Enigma Fortuna: On the cusp of the Renaissance

Antonio Zacara da Teramo (ca. 1360–1416) was one of the great composers bridging the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Prolific and widely copied, his compositions are in a variety of styles, registers, and forms. “Enigma Fortuna” is an invitation to discover the great vitality and eccentricity of his music, presented by one of his present-day champions, La Fonte Musica. Explore a world in which enigmas and oracle intertwine, with obsessive variations on the theme of Fortune laced with sarcasm, irony, and self-deprecation.

Led by Michele Pasotti, La Fonte Musica is dedicated to interpreting medieval to Renaissance music, with a particular focus on the Italian trecento. They have graced prestigious festivals across Europe and garnered acclaim for their CDs, including their most recent release, “Enigma Fortuna”, a four-disc box containing the complete works of Antonio Zacara da Teramo. Another CD, "Metamorfosi Trecento," won the Diapason d’Or and was an International Classical Music Award finalist. Their debut project, "Le Ray au Soleyl," received the "Supersonic Award" and praise from Diapason. La Fonte Musica continues to captivate audiences worldwide and receives international radio broadcasts, solidifying their position as pioneers in early music interpretation.
