June 11 | Berkeley
Join Julia Bengtsson, Co-Director of The New York Baroque Dance Company, for a lively dance workshop at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (Parish Hall) accompanied live by members of Music of the Regiment. Bring shoes comfortable for dancing! Together, we’ll explore social dances set to music by Francis Johnson (1792–1844), the groundbreaking American composer whose works brought countless dance floors to life in America, as well as in Europe. In true period style, participants will learn elegant figures and spirited steps that will transport you to the world of the 19th-century ball. Whether you are new to dance, a seasoned reveler or a Bridgerton fan, this workshop offers both an introduction and deeper insight into Johnson’s dances to further enrich your experience of the Mainstage performance on June 12 at 5 PM.
