A night of Bach

June 12 |Berkeley

Berkeley native Lillian Gordis—who has developed an international career based both in France and the United States—returns to her hometown for an all-Bach program that explores the number “3” and its multiples in a new, intensely personal journey based on her recently released album.

Lillian will perform selections from the album, highlighting four of the most complex preludes and fugues from the Well-Tempered Clavier II and the sixth Partita, which has accompanied her since childhood and is the centerpiece of the new recording.

Lilian says of Bach and playing: “The biggest reward for me is when I manage to achieve this kind of trance-like state where I am able to simultaneously hear all the voices I am playing and there is a multidimensional aspect to this music that I am attempting to play with just two hands. That is a unique experience that I don’t really have with other composers.”

You won’t want to miss this homecoming recital!
